Come join Sik-Lam Wong, PhD, LMFT for a live, half-day online training on this versatile and engaging tool utilizing the adaptive-information processing system! The Flash Technique (FT) is a unique trauma protocol that does not require the client to re-experience the traumatic experience during the processing!
Learn proven sensory-based techniques to shift clients to calm, regulated states. Participants will have ready-to-use Scripts for groups and individuals and be able to apply FT for various populations, including first responders, military, veterans, as well as marginalized, and dissociative-prone populations.
Clients do not have to disclose the details of their trauma, protecting clients from the shame of discussing the details of their trauma and also protecting therapists from vicarious trauma. In the FT, clients briefly identify the trauma and then change focus to something positively engaging. When prompted, clients would blink their eyes quickly a few times. Clients would typically report rapid reduction in the level of disturbance in 10 to 20 minutes, without ever trying to cognitively work on the memory. The therapist can then switch to other modalities such as EMDR or CBT or just continue with FT. This training will cover both the theory and the practice of the Flash Technique, giving attendees a strong theoretical understanding of how FT works.
Sik-lam Wong, PhD, LMFT (MFC#92414) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor three (3) hours of continuing education for MFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and LEPs. This course is also compliant with Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC), able to provide CEU’s for LPCs, LMFT’s, LCSW’s licensed in the state of Texas.
Please check with your specific state licensing board requirements regarding accepted CEUs.
This training is approved by EMDRIA for credits. Sik-Lam Wong, PhD, LMFT. is an EC Provider (#24008) and this program #24008-02 is approved for 3 EMDRIA Credits. Eligibility for EMDRIA Credits is restricted to those who have completed an EMDRIA-Approved Basic EMDR Training. Sik-Lam Wong maintains responsibility for the program and all its content.
Proceeds of this training will go to support Valored, a non-profit, whose mission is to increase access to mental health resources for first responders, military, and veterans through funding services and education. We will have a bonus opportunity to learn more about working with this population and considerations for FT!
